The live portion of a musical career spanning more than half a decade is finally coming to a close.

Elton John’s Tour.

The great English musician, Sir Elton John, has announced that he plans to stop touring and live shows with one epic final tour. His 300 date, worldwide Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour began on September 8th in Allenstown, Pennsylvania and will reach its conclusion three years from now in 2021. Concerts will be held across five continents – North America, Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia – with the UK leg of the journey starting on June 9th, 2019 in the 1st Central County Ground in Hove.

Where in Cardiff ?

Elton John will then perform in Cardiff City Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on June 15th. He has expressed excitement over again playing in the city and praised the crowds as immensely welcoming. Cardiff City FC Executive Director, Ken Choo, was equally delighted to be host to such a talented and charitable performer. This will be John’s 14th visit to Wales and 10th to Cardiff. He first played in the city back in 1976 with two glorious nights at Capitol Theatre.

When are Tickets on sale?

Tickets for these once-in-a-lifetime concerts are set to go on sale on Friday, September 14th, 2018 at 10 AM (BST). Each show is sure to be a spectacular journey fitting of the grandeur of John’s musical career, which spans more than 50 years of catchy tunes and immortal hits such as “Candle in the Wind” and “Your Song”. Many of the initial North American dates have already sold out; fans do not want to miss out on the epic exit of what Billboard charts called the number one top-performing solo male artist in history.

Why the end for Elton?

Musicians often announce such final tours only to reconsider later on. Elton John, however, insists that this is it for him and he will definitely not change his mind. Still, he plans to go on working creatively – just at home with his family. He has remarked that the decision to stop touring was an easy one and in large part due to a desire to focus on his home life with husband, David Furnish. His two children, Elijah and Zachary, have so far been young enough to travel with him. However, they are now older and their schooling requires that he make the choice between being a consistent part of their lives and being on the road. After such a successful career, it’s only fair that he now closes that chapter of his life and spends the rest of it with his beautiful family.

It’s always difficult to see such an iconic musician step away from the live stage. It’s tough to process that we will no longer be able to hear their music live and enjoy their actual presence. Still, it’s inevitable and, in Sir Elton John’s case, the extensive Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour will be a most fitting, wonderful crazy journey to mark the 71-year-old legend’s transition from eccentric musician to quiet family man.
